Welcome to Coolidge Intermediate School! Our school is dedicated to serving fourth, fifth, and sixth graders in a nurturing, learning atmosphere. The instructional emphasis is on problem-solving and active engagement of the learners with hands-on experiences. Focusing on problem-solving and inquiry-based learning strengthens Coolidge’s academic programs. Teachers use research-based, effective instructional practices to meet the needs of our students. We teach the core curriculum which is aligned with the State of Michigan Standards and Benchmarks Students are arranged in a traditional elementary structure. They are assigned to a homeroom teacher who is responsible for teaching the core curriculum. In addition to their homeroom, they receive special instruction in science, computers, Spanish, art, vocal music, and physical education. All students are required to complete various projects throughout the school year. Coolidge Intermediate School has developed an extensive After School Program which includes tutoring, dance, knitting, drama club, and chess. The plan for this school year is to include a sports program. Our school is also in a partnership with Huntington National Bank that provides an in-school Student Banking Program. We are extremely proud of our student peer mediation program. Students learn the life-long skills of mediation. When children are provided with the strategies to solve problems peacefully, they will use them. The peer mediation program reinforces the components of Character Education. Again, I welcome you to Coolidge Intermediate School. Please feel free to stop in and visit our school.
