GO THE DISTANCE:  Can you feel it?  There is electricity around Go the Distance coming this Thursday to Franklin!  Don't miss this special event; it promises to impact your family and our entire school district in a way that you can only imagine.  Come out to the track at 8:30 on Thursday morning to cheer on Greg and members from 18 teams that have registered for the 24 hour relay. 

  • 5K Fun Run Sign Up.  Its not too late to register for the 5K Family Fun Run or KFC grilled chicken dinner.  Online registration at www.GotheDistanceRun.com closes Monday at midnight.  Registration and meal tickets available at the event until supplies last, t-shirts and meals can not be guaranteed without preregistration, so act NOW! 
  • Volunteer Needed for Go the Distance Event on Thursday!  Sign up at:  http://www.volunteerspot.com/login/entry/8623456344603220111 to select a shift that works for your family on the 24th. Go the Distance needs volunteers from every school in LUSD; there is something for everyone...
  • A special thanks to baseball and cheerleading for showing how far they would go and canceling events on May 24th to allow families to be able to participate in Go the Distance!
  • GTD Apparel sales.  Have you been wanting to sport the new Go the Distance 2012 apparel?  Order forms must be submitted to the office by June 1.  Orders may also be submitted at the event on Thursday night.
  • Vendors are welcome to showcase their goods at Go the Distance.  Please complete the Vendor application and submit to the office by Wednesday morning or email to gina@GotheDistanceRun.com.
     

Franklin Open House Art Faire: Open House is upon us and we are excited to share the magnificent artwork our kids (with the help of those fantastic Art Docent Volunteers) have created.  We are going to have an "Art Walk" in the Art Room (Room 21) during open house, displaying the artwork of all our students.  We will have an "art sale" where "Sold" stickers will be available for a $1 (or more) donation to be placed on an art project of your choice.  In addition, this year we will be having a table set up outside the "Art Walk" were kids can decorate a cookie for $1.00.  So, please stop by Room 21 between 5:30 - 7:00 pm on May 31st.  The kids love to show off their artwork, and all the money collected goes directly to the Franklin PTC Art Docent Program.

School play:  Dates have been changed from May 18-19 to June 2-3.  This is a Saturday and Sunday schedule.  Saturday performance at 6pm and a Sunday matinee at 2pm.  We will be performing a middle school adaptation of Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing.

Del Oro Aquatic Center Fundraising. The New Aquatic Center Committee consists of a group of dedicated individuals from the Loomis area who have volunteered to raise the needed funds to construct a new pool facility at Del Oro High School. Please visit www.deloroaquaticcenter.com for more information.
