Go The DistanceMay 24-25, 2012 

Franklin Jog-a-thon - May 24, 2012

Franklin Jog-a-thon:  Franklin students will show how they go the distance for Franklin and participate in our jog-a-thon on May 24th.  Students will be asked to collect donations and have the chance to win a Green Team t-shirt, as well as other prizes for being the highest earner.  Volunteers need to help the students run the track during their scheduled jog-a-thon times, pass out water & snacks and lead thru the "Health Fair" demo put on by our 7th grade student.  To volunteer, please email: Lisa Kinsman (teamkinsman@surewest.net) or Racine Shaw (mamarace@hotmail.com)

Open House BBQ May 31, 2012

Families will enjoy a BBQ dinner during Open House prior to going into the classrooms. Volunteers needed to help set, serve & clean. (30mins - 2 hrs)

School Play/Drama Club - Play scheduled for June 2 &3, 2012

Students in 4th-8th grades will be able to participate in a before-school Drama Club in preparation for this year’s school play. Club will meet once per week starting in Fall 2011. This year we are hoping to have students help write the play in addition to having acting roles. Volunteers needed to help with after school club and creating all aspects of the performance.

Field Day BBQ – June 2012

PTC provides a healthy lunch for students and staff during their Field Day activities that are planned for school that day. Volunteers needed to help set up, serve and clean up; 1-2 hrs.

Staff Appreciation:  All year

This allows us to show how much we appreciate the teachers & staff for everything they do for our children.  The staff is treated to wonderful monthly luncheons hosted by grade levels and gifts of gratitude by the PTC.  The Room Parents of each class are asked to coordinate activities for their teachers & aides to show their appreciation throughout the year.  This is a fun way to get to know the Franklin staff.

Volunteers Needed: There are many ways to help with planning activities for the staff and getting donations from the community (1-5 hours). 

 

Community Donations - Any Time!

We'd love to be able to use free meal certificates or other donations we can get from our local community as incentives in the classrooms, perfect attendance or to help with some of our events.  Volunteers needed to ask for donations.

Fall BookFair- October28st - November 4th

The Fall book fair is put on by the PTC along with Scholastic Books (see link:http://bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/7050franklinelementary). Thank you to everyone who volunteered to make this event a success! We earned over $1500 plus purchased new books for the library and all the teacher's wish lists.

FallFestival-November 5, 2011(2:00p-7:00p)

Update-It was a fun afternoon at the Fall Festival on Saturday. There weresome fantastic chilis at the Chili Cook-Off, lots of fun games for the kids toplay and many enthusiastic pie eaters! This is an event that takes the effortsof many to make it possible; so THANK YOU to all the families who attended,everyone who brought an goodie for the cake walk and the parents&studentswho worked the game booths. A special thanks to Judy Bailey and her team forvolunteering their time to make this event happen this year (ThreeCheers for Volunteers Page). Winners of Chili Cook-off are:

TrojanTrackers- September 26 -December 4, 2011 -Click Here to VolunteerNOW!

This is a runningclub fitness program that is open to students in Grades K-8. Participants run/walk at their own pacearound the track before school and mileage is tracked. There is a built-inaward schedule in which Trojan Trackers can earn tokens and ribbons.This seasonwill be focused on training for the MandaRun on November 20th and the maraFUNrunon December 4th.Fill out theTrojanTrackers Registration Formand return to the office by September23rd to participate this season.

Talent Show   - Februrary 10, 2012

A fun event for students to show off their talents!  2 Performances:

School Performance at 9:00am.  Performers check in at your classrooms and go to the gym.  Come in outfits, but bring a change of clothes.

Evening Peformance at 6:00am.  Participants will need to arrive by 5:30p.

Also, we need help cleaning up after the show.  If you haven't volunteered yet, this is a great way to help out!   We are so appreciative of all the parent & student volunteers helping with music, backstage, curtains, lighting and videotaping. Thank you!

Reading CountsStore : 2/16/12 -Click Hereto Volunteer NOW!

The first Reading Counts Store is February 16 in the library (2nd-6th grades). There will be new prizes and awesome gift cards available for those students who have been reading and taking quizzes - so don't miss out and get reading today!! Our 7th/8th grade students with Reading Counts points will be helping in the stores this year.
--Quizzes can be taken in their classrooms or in the library before school (8:15) and during lunchtime or recess.

Family Reading Night - March 1, 2012

In conjunction with Read Across America and its efforts to celebrate reading, we host a fun night of reading at Franklin School. Families are entertained by 7th & 8th grade students who act out performances to selected books. Volunteers Needed to help serve cake & pass out books on the night; 1-4hrs.

CHOICES ProgramSpring 2012

Workshop presented to 8th grade students to help them achieve academic success in pursuit of their career and life aspirations. Students go through real-world exercises on academic self-discipline, time and money management, and goal setting to discover they can take charge of their lives. Volunteers needed to help lead workshop; 2-4 hrs.

Dinner AuctionMarch 24, 2012 @ High Hand Nursery

B.E.A.R. NightApril 13, 2012

Be Enthusiastic About Reading (B.E.A.R.) Night is a program for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders that encourages reading with a sleepover party at Franklin School. Students who do the required reading spend a fun night playing games, crafts, snacks, story time by our librarian Miss Krissy and a slumber party in the gym, breakfast and home by 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning.  Reading Contracts stating that you are intending to participate are due to the school by Wednesay, March 7th (Download BEAR Night Contract Here).  It is important that these are in time for us to plan the evening and get a tentative head count for participants.  Download Forms:  BEAR Night Flyer & BEAR Night Book Report Form.
