POETRY OUT LOUD is a national recitation competition sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Poetry Foundation, and NEIU 19. This competition’s objective is to promote the enjoyment of poetry as the spoken word through memorization, recitation, and performance. Participants memorize three poems. They compete on the school, local, state, and national level depending on their degree of success. The winner of the school competition proceeds to the regional competition for North Eastern Pennsylvania.
