First Grade Grading Policy

Effort grades will be given in science, social sciences, and handwriting. The grades are based on assignments being completed accurately and on time. The student’s effort will also be taken into consideration in the event that accuracy is not satisfactory on the assignment.

E- Excellent  G – Good   S – Satisfactory   N – Needs Improvement   U – Unsatisfactory

Letter grades will be given in math, spelling and reading and language arts(written communication). The grades will be determined based on test scores, homework, projects, and class assignments.

A      90-100

B      80-89

C      70-79

D      60-69

F       Below 60

For the first quarter only, your child will receive an effort grade for language arts and beginning second quarter your child will receive  a letter grade in that area.

Please note that if your child is having difficulty the teacher will contact you to discuss ways that you can work together to help your child be more successful in that area. If you have a concern, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher so that together you may discuss ways to help your child at home.
