Spelling Lists/ Homework

Speller's Choice

Your child will have Spelling homework each Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evening. All Spelling homework should be completed on one sheet of notebook paper. Fold the paper in half lengthwise and use the front and back of the paper to complete all the assignments.   Please write your name, number, and label each spelling choice on that section of paper. Please place your Spelling homework in the STAR folder and turn it in on Friday. Choose one activity from the list on Monday and Tuesday evening. On Thursday you will take a practice test with an adult. Write any words you miss 3x each.

1. Rainbow Words- Use three different crayons or colored pencils to write your words on top of each other.

2. ABC order- Write your words in alphabetical order.

3. Backwards order- Reverse alphabetical order. Start with Z and end with A.

4. Silly Story- Use all your words in a silly story.

5. Star Sentences- Use all of your words in 10 sentences.

6. Magazine words- Search for your words in a magazine or newspaper. You can cut the words or letters out and glue them to your paper.

7. Pyramid words- Write your words adding one letter at a time.

8. Disappearing words- Write each word, then write it again but leave a letter out each time you write it until it.... disappears.

9. Criss-Cross words- Write two or more of your words that share a letter so they "crisscross" each other.

10. Computer Practice- Practice typing your words on your computer. Use different fonts and colors. Print them out and bring them in your STAR folder.

11. Cheer Words- Practice being a cheerleader and cheer your words to an adult. You can use the hand motions that we use in class to represent each letter. Write this choice down on your spelling homework, and have an adult sign their name to say they listened to you cheer your words.

12. Spelling City- Go to the website http://www.spellingcity.com and enter your spelling list. Do one of the activities at spelling city with your words. Write this down as your choice and have an adult sign their name to say that you practiced your words on the web!
