Send someone you love a Valentine!!! Student Council will be selling Valentine's Day lollipops and roses during all lunches. Cost of the lollipops are 50 cents each, and roses are $3.00 each. All Valentine's will be delivered on February 14th during 9th period.
There will be junior class meeting TODAY, February 9, 10th period in the Chem Lab (Mrs. Roche's room). All officers must attend. All juniors are encouraged to attend. We need to order prom favors!
The doors for the boy's basketball game at Holy Cross on Friday will open at 4:45 p.m. The game is being played at Holy Cross High School on Drinker St.
There will be a meeting for Ms. Gedrich's 8th grade Reading Team on Monday, February 13, during 10th period in Room 115.
The drama club’s spring play committees will meet on Wednesday, February 15th 10th period in room 241. All of the committees will meet, so please attend.

Reminder to Seniors that financial Aid deadlines are now approaching. Check your schools of interest for their deadline. Your FAFSA should be submitted by the school’s deadline to meet maximum scholarship and grant eligibility. If you have any questions about filing for financial aid you can pick up a packet of information in the guidance office.

The registration deadline for the March SATs at Scranton High School is Friday, February 10, 2012. Students may register online at www.collegeboard.com or by picking a paper registration form in the guidance office. Remember that you can send your SAT scores to up to four colleges when you register without any additional fees. It will cost $10.50 per school per score report to send your scores next year. Regular registration is $49. Late registration is $75. Students who participate in the school lunch program may be eligible for a fee waiver. Please see Mrs. Getts for more information.

The Vikings read Jr. High book club meeting will be TODAY.
Anyone interested in joining the boys tennis team should attend the team meeting TODAY Thursday January 26th 10th period . all boys 9th grade and up can attend. The meeting will held in the cafeteria.
All juniors registered for the SAT on Saturday, January 28th at Scranton High School will need to bring photo identification with them to the test. Acceptable IDs are passports, driver’s licenses, school identification cards, and other current and valid photo IDs. Students who do not have one of these IDs will have to see Mrs. Orzel in the guidance office prior to Saturday. Students will need to bring their admission ticket, photo Id, two No. 2 pencils, and a calculator to the test. Students are also encouraged to bring a drink and snack for test breaks. Scranton High School will not provide extra calculators to students who do not bring them. Students should arrive around 7:45 a.m. and will be dismissed between 12:30 & 1:00 p.m.

Friday, January 27th will be a dress down day for students who purchased the “ Winning” Riverside vs Old Forge T-Shirts from the Vikings Read book club. You may also dress down if you purchased a “ Coaches vs Cancer” blue T-Shirt . Remember, you may only dress down if you purchased these 2 types of t-shirts. You may wear jeans, keeping in mind that your jeans may not have any rips or tears or holes in them.
Chorus is cancelled today. Practice will resume Tuesday of next week. All members are reminded that they should attempt to make both Tuesday and Thursday practices until further notice.

Congratulations to the Riverside 2012 Scholastic Art Winners! Honorable Mentions were awarded to Anne Marie Coleman, Jessica Davis, Rainy Pritchett, Autumn Resauit and Bryant Wilson. A Silver Key Award was won by 8th grader Aaron Oustrich. Gold Key winners were Ellie Helcoski, Kendel Paranich and Rainy Pritchett. The Gold Key winner’s artwork will advance to judging in New York City for the National Scholastic Art Awards Show in Washington, D.C. in the spring. This regional exhibition at Marywood showcases the best of the best student artwork in Northeastern Pennsylvania. This amazing show can be seen at the Mahady Gallery in the Shields Center for Visual Arts at Marywood University until February 12, 2012. Good Luck to our Gold Key Winners for inclusion in the National exhibition in Washington as some of the best of the best of our Nation’s young artists!

Due to our boy's varsity basketball game with Old Forge being played at Marywood University on January 28th in the annual Coaches vs. Cancer game our Freshman and JV teams will be playing a doubleheader at Old Forge High School on Monday, January 23 starting at 6:00 p.m. This will be a Coaches vs. Cancer game and we are asking all students to wear their CVC t-shirts. General admission will be $2.00
Coaches vs. Cancer t-shirts will be on sale during all lunch periods. Shirts are $10.00.

Congratulations to Stephanie Tilberry who was chosen as Riverside’s 2011-12 Scholar of the Year. This honor is given to 1 student in each high school in Northeast PA. Stephanie will be recognized at a banquet in May and her radio interview will air this Sunday, January 22nd at 12pm on WUSR 99.5FM. Great Job Stephanie!

The final payment for the Drama Club field trip is due by March 31st. Students who sold candy owe $30 and students who didn't sell candy owe $80. Please see Mrs. McDermott with any questions.

For seniors: Please check the postings in senior hall for your scheduled date of presentation. Also, remember that your presentation must be in a power point; you must have a minimum of 5 slides and must speak at least 8 minutes. If these criteria are not met, you will not graduate. Also, do not be absent on the day of your presentation.

McCann is a 2-year school that offers a variety of business, medical technology, hospitality and computer science degrees. There will be refreshments, door prizes and giveaways. See the flyer in the guidance office, library and nurses office for details on how to rsvp.
The Pennsylvania State Police will be sponsoring Camp Cadet 2012 this summer. The camp will be held on the campus of Marywood University in Scranton, PA. This one week camp is designed to bring a better understanding to youth of law enforcement activities while living in an atmosphere of an actual State Police Training Facility. The experience is free to students. Students will have the opportunity to learn about State Police Aviation, Patrol and K-9 Unites, Federal Bureau of Investigation, United States Secret Service, Pennsylvania Game Commission, Sheriff’s Departments, Bomb Squad, and much more. Interested students must be at least 12 years old but not older than 15 on July 15, 2012. The camp fills up quickly. If interested, please see Mrs. Getts as soon as possible.
