Objectives for the rest of the year!
Reading- Students will understand the processes of various poem structures including: acrostic, cinquain, alliteration, concrete, color, image (five senses), haiku and critique other poems. Students will be assessed on final projects and cold reads dealing with reading item specs that pertains to poems. (author's purpose, theme, cause/effect, compare/contrast, vocabulary, literary elements. Project due May 23rd. We will be also starting our novel: From the Mixed - Up FIles of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler.
Writing- Students will go through the writing process to develop a speech for Tropicana Speech contest. Students are allowed to write a speech that is either persuasive or informational. Students will be assessed according to our class writing rubric and will also receive a presentation grade. The poetry writing will also be assessed for correct grammar and conventions.
Social Studies- Students will continue their Civics knowledge with the Revolutionary War project. Students are to create a poster with research on one founding father, a specific battle, and colony. This is an in class project! Project due May 23rd.

Grammar- Will be working on various grammar skills throughout the nine weeks!
Grammar for 4/30: adjectives, nouns, verbs
Science- Students will create a science question on a topic of choice and go through the correct steps on how to test their question or theory. Students will present their science fair project at our 5th. Grade Science Fair on May 18th. See science link for more info.
