“We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year's Day.”

British Literature

This year we will be looking at the literature of Britain and the World.  Our journey will take us back to the Ancient Greeks and the beginning of the theatre and human emotions.  We will venture into the worlds of the early inhabitants of the British Isles, through fights with mythical monsters to knights in shining armor.  We will revisit Shakespeare’s world of tragedy and comedy.  We will see how poetry can create a bond between true loves and how the use of satire can be an impetus for change.  We will study the human condition and put ourselves into the lives of others and decide how we might react if faced with the same situation.   The study of literature is not only the journey of reading but it is also a journey of self discovery.
