“We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year's Day.”
American Literature
This year we will be looking at the Literature of America. We will see the influence of the Native Americans, the Pilgrims, the Revolutionaries, the Slaves and the free. Our journey will take us through the history of the United States from its birth to modern day. One of our main focuses will be to see how the problems we face today are not so different from the problems our forefathers encountered. Hopefully you will learn a bit more about the history of our nation through the literature of the people.
