Welcome to fourth grade science and ELA at Mossy Oaks Elementary School.  

I hold a master's degree in teaching from the University of South Carolina and love learning as much as I love teaching. This is my second year at MOES as a teacher but my son attended Mossy Oaks Elementary so it feels like home. My son (Jacob) is a recent Beaufort High School graduate on his way to Coastal Carolina University to study Computer Science this fall. My husband (Dan) works for Beaufort, Jasper Water Sewer Authority and is always pitching in around the classroom when I need someone very handy.

Science in the fourth grade is a lot fun, as our curriculum includes units on weather, astronomy, energy and organisms (plants, animals, humans) and their environment. There will be lots of hands on opportunites for students, as well as a good bit of technology integration. Students will be introduced to notebooking in the classroom in both mine and Mrs. Edwards social studies class. Notebooking is a way for students to personalize their classroom experience and create an interactive learning portfolio.  

I will be team teaching with Mrs. Amy Edwards (Social Studies) and Mrs. Katherine Weller (Math). Each one of us will be responsible for teaching English Language Arts (ELA) to our homerooms - this includes reading, writing, spelling and grammar. I am looking forward to sharing my love of reading and writing with my students in this class!
