About Mrs. Hass

“Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at twenty or eighty. Anyone who keeps learning stays young” -Henry Ford I am Mrs. Hass and I will be your child’s kindergarten teacher. Let me begin by telling you a few things about myself. This will be my sixth year of teaching with the Benton Community District. I taught fourth grade for two years and was given the opportunity to move to kindergarten three years ago! I truly enjoy teaching young students and am excited to watch them grow throughout the year. I grew up in Marion, Iowa and graduated from the Linn-Mar School District. I attended Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa where I enjoyed being part of the volleyball team and the Wartburg Choir. I graduated from Mt. Mercy College in May 2010 with a Masters Degree in Education with an emphasis in reading. I learned so much from my classes and look forward to trying new methods and strategies with my students. I married my husband, Douglas, in July of 2006. We live in Cedar Rapids with our beagle, Oscar. In my free time I enjoy running, biking, playing volleyball, reading, tailgating for Iowa football, and relaxing with my family. The thing I love most about teaching is that each day is different. Kindergarten can be challenging at times but the kids are a constant source of energy and smiles. My hope is that students will leave my room with a life-long love for reading and an excitement to continue learning.
