Week of November 16th-20th
A Week-Library on Monday (return books) Character Word for the Month: Cooperation
Author of the Month: Eric Carle Story This Week: What Bug Is It? Star Student of the Week: Angelo Cioffi Word Families: (blends) fl, fr, sl, sm, sn, __ll, __ss, __ff Spelling Words: doll, flat, puff, snap, pass, miss Sight Words: about, again, around, use Remember: Your child will take a spelling test on Friday. Please write the spelling words and sight words on index cards and practice throughout the week. The sight words will be the challenge words. Be prepared.....study.
Areas of focus this week include: - learn about bats-continued
- learn about the First Thanksgiving
- read and write words with blends (fl, fr, sl, sn, __ll, __ss, __ff)
- read a street map to gather information
- learn about main idea
- review how to use context clues
- count back to subtract
- use a number line to subtract
- learn about irregular plural nouns (example: child=children, foot=feet, and tooth=teeth)
- learn about proper nouns=a special person or place
HOMEWORK:
Monday-Reader Response & Math 5.4/5.5 Tuesday- Reader Response & Helping Your Family sheet Wednesday- Reader Response & Math 6.1/6.2 Thursday- Reader Response sentence & character stand-up Friday-Hand in all homework assignments ***Homework assignments can be handed in any time throughout the week. All homework is due by FRIDAY.

Music Award Great news!! Our class won the "Music Award" for the month of October for demonstrating good behavior and working together in music class. GREAT JOB!
