Welcome to a very exciting year in your child’s school career. Second grade is incredible as you watch your child’s skills develop and grow. They will learn so many new and wonderful things. I will make your child’s learning experience a fun and exciting one. I hope to instill a love of learning that will last throughout your child’s years of schooling.

The children will bring home the “take home folder” each day. It will contain any important papers or homework assignments. It would be helpful if you put any notes for me in the folder so your child knows where to find them. One of my goals this year is to teach the children organizational skills.

A homework sheet/newsletter will go home every Monday. The newsletter will contain important information for the week along with exciting events, spelling words and new sight words.

We eat lunch at 12:05 every day. I encourage the children to bring in a small morning snack. Please do not send in anything messy, candy or junk food. Some good examples would be crackers, a banana, granola bar, Goldfish, Gogurt, cheese sticks, pretzels, popcorn, rice cakes, etc. The children may also keep a labeled water bottle in school. The kind with the pop top works best (as opposed to the twist off kind—those spill).

Please don’t hesitate to call me at school if you ever have any questions or concerns. I can also be reached at beamsel@egcsd.org. I look forward to meeting all of you and sharing a fabulous year together!
