Study tips and test taking strategies

Before the test:
1.  "Review time" to study your notes and old tests should be built into your daily study time.

2.  Network with a friend or group of friends and "power study" together. 

3.  Study/review time should be in short time periods (30 minutes/evening)

4.  Make notes or questions of concepts you do not understand and discuss with your class and teacher.

5.  Be confident!  You have been working all year on the concepts being tested during the State Exams.  Show what you know!  Practice problems at  home so that you can work out the "fat thumb errors" on practice work.

During the test:
1.  Read directions to the test carefully.

2.  Look through the test prior to starting to make sure you know how much you have to do and what your time frame will be.  Pace yourself

3.  For multiple choice questions, try doing the problem yourself and THEN look at the answers - if you don't see the answer you believe to be true - check your work.  Do the problem a different way and see ifyou get the same answer.

4.  Always go back and look over your work.  Check it and make sure your answers are correct.
