READING PROGRAM:
Our reading program is SFA (Success for All). We have a set time, 1 hour and 15 mins., each day dedicated to reading. All classes are active in learning reading and reading strategies during this time period. Students change classes based on their reading level. SFA is a research based program that has great success.
ENGLISH:
We use the Houghton Mifflin English curriculum. It is broken into three parts:
Part 1-Grammar, Usage, and Mechanics
Part 2-Writing, Listening, Speaking, and Viewing
Part 3-Tools and Tips
SPELLING:
Our spelling curriculum is Zaner-Bloser Spelling Connections. This is in correlation with the Zaner-Bloser handwriting that we teach.
The Zaner-Bloser games webpage link will take you to where you can practice your spelling words. Just click on the game you want to play (left side), use the pull down menu to select your grade level and the unit you are studying, then wait for it to load and begin practicing for those 100% test papers!
WRITING:
We teach writing using the 6-Trait writing process and the WriteTraits curriculum from Great Source- a Houghton Mifflin Company.
