All About Ms Allen Information and Teaching Philosophy

     Hello. I am your student's 5th grade Social Studies teacher. I am very happy to have your student in my class! We will embark on a great adventure through the units of Geography, History, Culture, Economics, Civics and Tennessee. I believe our students need to study the past in order to face the challenges of today and prepare for their future. It is essential that American students in American schools use all  resources available to them as they become the leaders of tomorrow.  Social Studies will help them know the how, when, what, where, why and results of the actions of their ancestors. This knowledge will be an invaluable tool to help them make wise decisions.

       My full name is Deborah Kay Allen. I was raised in Jackson, TN. I graduated from Northside High School and Union University. While living in Wichita Falls, TX for 6 years I received my teaching degree. Medina has been my home for the last 24 years. I have taught 22 years in the 4/5 grade curriculum of Medina Schools. My 3 daughters attended Gibson County High School.  Two of my daughters became teachers for our school district, while my oldest daughter moved to Chicago and worked in business.  I now have 8 grandchildren who call me Nana: Ellie, Anna Claire, Aiden, Eli, Will, Elizabeth and the twins-Nathan and Jack.
