I'm always trying to get my students to go to art exhibitions. They are great learning experiences and motivators for your own artwork. As always, I offer extra credit if you do go to them. All you have to do is attend, bring me a price list or brochure from the exhibit and write a critique on your favorite piece in the show you attended (use our classroom critique/journal form). This will earn you an extra credit grade of 98% to be averaged in with your other grades. I believe that any time you go to an art show, gallery or museum and view art you will learn something that will benefit you personally, scholastically and culturally. You have the opportunity to visit many art galleries in Scranton every first Friday of the month. There is a new show in each gallery every First Friday. Ride the Trolley for free to all the venues, eat some free food and enjoy all the varied styles and techniques of the art displayed. Some galleries also feature live music during their First Friday openings.
