Well, we have settled into the new school year, MEAPs are just about over and the end of trimester one is soon approaching! Can you believe it?  Already we have accomplished much at FMS this year: student orientation, the first student assemblies, parent-teacher conferences, initial MEAP testing, school pictures, open house, jog-a-thon, and progress reports! Whew! Hopefully you, as parents/guardians, already knew about all of these items as we endeavor to get items posted on our website and sometimes send notification home with students.  Please check our FMS website often to keep abreast of what is happening.

There is one thing with which I need your help.We are having a LOT of trouble with the students keeping their hands to themselves.  It's not malicious; the students really are "just playing" with each other. The problem is what happens when a person does NOT feel like "playing."  In many instances misunderstandings, and even fights, can occur when "play" goes too far.  If that happens, Mr. Francis and I have no choice but to punish the offender.  How can you help?  Please speak to your students about keeping their hands to themselves. It may sound like a cliche, but when students do that, many of the problems that we have will no longer occur.  It really is that simple.

Remember that we have two grade-level overnight trips coming up.  One is the 7th grade Heroes Camp in December, and the other is the 8th grade trip to Chicago in April.  If you are interested in either of these opportunities, please make sure that you have filled out all paperwork and submitted it to the proper location. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Finally, we are mailing the first progress report today, Monday, October 27th, for those who were unable to make it to Parent/Teacher Conferences.  You should expect them by mid-week.
