FAQ's:

Q: How do you communicate with parents?

A: There are many ways that parents can keep up with the exciting events in our classroom. The best way is to check our website and our classroom blogs. The links below are most important.

Homework Help and Resources

In addition, you can feel free to send in any correspondences with your child in note form or write in their student planners since I sign off on these books daily.

Q: Do you provide study guides for your tests?

A: Students will complete exams in the content areas on Fridays. Study guides are always given out on the Monday before an exam.   It is essential that your child learn to study a little bit each night. This is a great habit to begin before starting middle school. You can check the website often to stay on the lookout for any study guides that will be coming home.

Q: Should my child return tests and quizzes?

A: All tests and quizzes will come home in our Friday Folders. Please sign and return all papers in these folders.

Q: When will you give out the research projects?

A: Students will be given one month to complete all research projects.   The Native American project will be coming home in a few weeks. Please remind your child to begin these projects in a timely manner.  Projects will not be accepted after the due dates.

Q:   What happens if my child misses his/her homework?

A: Homework is checked daily and you will be informed via note if an assignment was missing. The students will have to make up the missed assignment either at recess or at home dependent upon the contents of the task.

Q: Should I check my child’s homework?

A: Please check your child’s agenda every night. Furthermore, it is important to look over his/her homework every night.   Students can also access the Pearson success.com website for extra help in math.  Please look in the back of your child’s agenda for the username/password. In addition, our website includes interactive games for extra practice in math, science, social studies, and reading.

Q: What does the “R” on my child’s paper mean?     Quality vs. Quantity

A: An “R” means that the paper needs to be corrected and returned. Students are encouraged to do their best.   Papers are to be done neatly and to the best of their ability.

Q: How can I help my child succeed this year?

A: Reading is essential for their success. Children often abandon books before the author has a chance to set-up the story; therefore it is important that we encourage the children to complete a book before moving on to another one. Please remind your child to bring his/her book back and forth to school each day. Furthermore, it is crucial that you see your child read on a nightly basis. Please do not sign your child’s reading log unless you actually see him/her reading.
