-
For two years Columbia High School's Parenting/Financial Life skills classes participated in a certification program offered by The New York Financial Literacy Coalition.
- 84 percent of students passed the test in 2008-09 and will be recognized with a blue star banner in the fall of 2009!
-
The Business Department is very proud of the students who successfully passed the standardized test. -
Two of our students passed with honors and will be recognized at a reception in New York City. -
In the Financial Life Skills class students study career exploration, budgeting, banking, credit, investments, and insurance. -
The Coalition’s Financial Literacy Certificate Program provides professional development and program materials in support of teaching of personal finance in high schools. -
It also provides the standardized Financial Certification Test in order to measure the personal finance knowledge gained by students. -
The Coalition helps youth make smart decisions and responsible plans for achieving their own financial goals, whether that means financing a college education, starting their own business, buying a computer or saving for retirement.
