FBLA STATE CONFERENCE WINNERS, 2009 First Place Scott Boyle--Business Procedures Dan Grimaldi--Technology Concepts Future Business Leaders of America students qualify for National Leadership Conference Columbia High School’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) recently participated in the New York State Leadership Conference held in Rochester, New York. The students completed written tests in Marketing, Business Procedures, Computer Problem Solving, Technology Concepts, and Personal Finance. The students also participated in the team events of Management Decision Making, Network Design, and Business Ethics. In addition, there was an Impromptu Speaking event and a Community Service Project event. Two Columbia High School juniors brought home gold medals. Scott Boyle earned first place in Business Procedures and Dan Grimaldi earned first place in Technology Concepts. This qualifies both students to compete at the National Conference in Anaheim, California this summer. CONGRATULATIONS! Session topics included: Dressing for Success, Fundraising Ideas, and How to Promote Your Program. Our students met with students from over eight area high schools and shared ideas. What was learned will be implemented at CHS. GIFFY'S BARBEQUE On October 19, 2007 the CHS FBLA Chapter held a Giffy's Barbeque. Over two hundred meals were sold and served. Giffy's chicken dinners were enjoyed by all! OPEN HOUSE 2007 Several of our current members and officers showcased FBLA at the 2007 Open House! Officers and members encouraged new students to participate in this year's activities. Many parents stopped by the table to learn about our chapter! MARCH OF DIMES WALK AMERICA Ten of our dedicated members walked in Colonie on April 29, 2007, for the FBLA National Fundraiser of March of Dimes. We are proud that our students raised over $400 for this worthy cause. STATE LEADERSHIIP 2007 RESULTS There were over 700 students who participated in the three-day conference at the Nevele Grande in Ellenville, NY. The following students placed in the top five and were recognized with plaques and trophies. As you will read below, 21 awards were brought home to CHS. The event was a huge success. The bake sale's proceeds will be donated to the March of Dimes. The proceeds from the dinner will help support the cost of attending the State Leadership Conference in April 2007. SPRING DISTRICT CONFERENCE On Thursday, February 8, 2007, the Columbia High School FBLA students participated in the FBLA New York State District 4 Spring Meeting at the Empire State Plaza. Congratulations to the 21 students who participated. It was a great experience for all. Seminars included etiquette, scrapbooking, promotion of FBLA, March of Dimes National Fundraiser, and dressing for success. It was a successful day. Congratulations to Maddie Hope for planning the conference. We are proud of her role as District IV Vice President. Also, congratulations to Danae Balanger for a very informative and fun interactive game of "Battle of the Chapters." RESULTS ARE IN--CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL MEMBERS THAT ATTENDED THE FBLA NEW YORK STATE LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE! On April 3-5, 2006, the FBLA students attended the FBLA New York State Leadership Conference at the Nevele Hotel and Conference Center in Ellenville, NY.
