About Title I About Title I

        About Title I

Title I is a federally funded program.  The funds are used to provide a remedial reading program to help children develop needed skills in order for them to become life-long readers.

My Title I students may be seen in small groups or individually. During that time my instructional aide, Mrs. Swercheck and I, teach and have our students practice reading skills in the areas of phonics, comprehension, listening, vocabulary, and writing.  We are using programs that compliment and reinforce the core reading program used in the classroom.

We are flexible in addressing individual student progress in reading.  Students who may be doing well in our program may be exited from our class.  We do continue to monitor their reading progress in order to make sure they are reading within established benchmarks for second grade.  Students who are experiencing difficulty in the classroom during the year may be entered into the program.  We have regular communication between the Title I teacher and the classroom teacher.

Please click on the link under About Title I for suggestions on how you as a parent can help your child.
