Our schoolyard ecology field trip with Ecologist in residence George Steele was outstanding. You can enjoy a little video clip on our web page. It takes a few moments to load but is well worth the wait! We also welcomed the Defreestville Fire Department and learned all the important lessons of Fire Safety.
I am sure November and December will also be full of many exciting and educational experiences as well.
Mrs. Alpy completed her Student Teaching experience with us on October 23rd. Mrs. Alpy had a wonderful way with the children. She did a great job and she will be missed. We wish her Good Luck in the future.
I am sending home book orders for November and December for holiday shopping. This is a great way to provide your child with inexpensive leveled reading material. If you would like us to “hide” your order until it is convenient for you to pick it up just me know! Please remember all checks should, be made payable to Scholastic Book Club. All orders should be returned to school by Nov. 6th. Online ordering is now available as well!
The district has set aside several opportunities for Parent Conferences: the afternoon and evening of Nov. 20th and Dec. 3th. Please fill out the attached form indicating what day and time period will be best for you. Return this sheet to me by Nov. 6th.
I will then schedule exact times for our conferences.
It's not too late to participate in the Pizza Hut Book-It Program. It's a wonderful reading incentive sponsored by pizza Hut. Our goal will be to read 20 minutes a day at least 5 times a week. Each time your child spends 20 minutes reading at home, they will color in the space on their "Book-It" calendar. Return the calendar at the end of each month and I will send home a coupon for a free personal pan pizza for your child!
