The 4th ANNUAL CEF CONCERT for the ARTS

On Monday Oct 20, 2008, the Cresskill Education Foundation sponsored the fourth annual Concert for the Arts.  Cresskill’s professional musicians, who play on Broadway, in the Philharmonic and throughout the world, shared their passion for music to raise money for the arts in our schools.

Sarah Carter, the CEF Artistic Director, put together an amazing program that contained a ten piece brass ensemble, memorable piano solos, an amazing viola/piano duet, some Mozart, Doppler and a Tchaikovsky string sextet.  The second half of the show featured a new Big Band segment and fabulous Brazilian Jazz with vocal and drum accompaniment by CHS seniors Emily Olcott and Matt Tatro.

Sarah Wallace, WABC-TV investigative reporter and nine time Emmy winner, also a Cresskill resident, was Master of Ceremonies.  Sarah emphasized the importance of evenings like these to celebrate Cresskill and the arts.  She also pointed out the need for new and creative ways to raise money for our schools as federal and state revenues dwindle.

The Cresskill musicians: Cathy Campbell, Sarah Carter, Francisco Centeno, Basia Danilow, David Gale, Christina Kiss, Andre Liigand, John Littlefield, Karen Littlefield, Nilson Matta, Donald Mokrynski, Tom Olcott, Peter Sanders, Jack Schatz, Ed Uribe, Joe Verderese, and Rebecca Young were joined by eleven professionals from our neighboring towns to produce another memorable evening.

Dr. Bellina, Superintendent of Schools, said, “On behalf of the Board of Education, I would like to thank our extremely talented musicians and the CEF for supporting our students and enhancing the arts in our schools.”
