Dear Parents,
Our new letter for this week will be "B,b". The children are bringing home phonics worksheets almost every day. Please ask your child to show you the papers he/she did in school. If your child tells you what he/she did on the paper, it helps reinforce the skill. The phonics papers have a box of high frequency words at the bottom of each worksheet. Being able to recognize these words quickly and easily will make reading our stories easier for your child. Please encourage your child to read these words to you every night as practice.
In math we will continue learning about solid and plane shapes. We will learn how to divide objects into equal parts and talk about halves, thirds, and quarters.
Our next library time will be on Wednesday, January 11. Please remind your child to bring his/her library book back to school so it can be exchanged for a new book.
We will have "Show and Tell" next Friday, January 13, 2012. This Show and Tell will not have a theme, therefore the children can bring what ever they would like to share. Please do not send anything breakable or valuable. Practicing with your child at home makes it easier for your child to stand in front of the class and his/her object.
Friday, January 13, is also Fitness Day/Dance Party 2012. Our whole school will gather in the gym at the end of the day for exercise and fitness fun. Please dress your child as you would for a gym day.
We take a snack break every morning. Our school does not provide snacks for the children. Please remember to send a snack with your child everyday. It is difficult for the children who do not have a snack. Our morning is long and the children look forward to their snack.
