A Multicultural Approach to Arts Education A Multicultural Approach to Arts Education

A Multicultural, Cross Curricular Approach to Arts Education is a multilayered, academic practice teaching cultural understanding/acceptance through the arts assuring  the school community learns to appreciate, respect and understand cultural differences amongst its population. The program teaches cultural differences through the areas of art, music, physical education, library and technology with multicultural experiences immersed in history, culture, high academic standards and ethical issues. The  Multicultural program is concluded each year with an enormous event called Arts Night where the children’s multicultural accomplishments are showcased. As this is a colossal task (approximately 5,000 pieces of artwork are displayed, over 200 children perform, over 1500 people attend), more than 200 community volunteers put it together.
