We have several "Oldies but Goodies" character processes that are part of our daily existence. Below are just a few of the ways Brigantine integrates character everyday. Classroom Climate Everyday teachers challenge children to be part of the bigger classroom family and do their best in every way. Arts Night Each year the entire school works collaboratively to get this event up and running. Currently volunteer are coming into the school and helping to prepare, children are beginning auditions, the Middle School kids are helping, the janitors are getting the school ready, teachers are assisting. It is truly a community event. Make sure to check us out on MAY 29, 2008 for Arts Night 2008: From Sea to shining Sea Brigantine Student Council These students work yearly to support the student population. Their recycle program is in full swing and they will be visiting a variety of locations to spread the word. G.Y.M. Our fantastic GAME ROOM just got state of the art new equipment to promote physical wellness. Children head up to the game room to "work out" during the school day. What fun-Dance Dance Revolution in the EXTREME! BEST Brigantine Elementary TV Studio Every day students participate live in a TV broadcast throughout the school. The daily news is read including all of the children doing acts of character. Each week a BEST show os produced highlighting the students and the school community. Peer to Peer Support Many of our classrooms cross the bridge between the Elementary School and the Middle School by inviting older children to come help out younger children. Kindness Counts Every week the principal announces the children who exemplify character. These children receive a certificate thanking them from the principal for their awesome attitude. Kids Helping Kids In our school, it is an honor to give up tour free time and help children in another class. Students willingly give up play time to help with children throughout the classes. Art Club Our Art Club kids reach out into the school community and support programs. This year the students have made art for Santa's visit, helped make posters to say "Thank You" to our support staff, worked making signs for speech and hearing awareness, and will be reaching out to the community by bringing their art to a nursing home. First Grade Carnival Children learn about counting and earning money by working towards filling up a "bank" for their carnival. Many times, the children earn their money by being persons of character. parents and teachers run the fun filled day where they children get to spend their earnings. Fourth Grade Career Day Every year the 4th grade teachers reach out to the community to bring local parents and organizations to Brigantine to share with their students. Field Day Ready, set, go! The children have a friendly competition between classes on this wonderful day promoting physical fitness. Jump Rope For Heart Each year, children raise funds by jumping rope for the American Heart association. Health and Wellness Day Each year we have an "inservice" for kids about being healthy. Local representatives in the heath field come to do a wellness fair for the children. This year, we are integrating an adult wellness Fair during the day of the event.
