Classroom Management

We use our S.A.F.A.R.I. notebook as a form of classroom management.  The S.A.F.A.R.I. notebook goes home every day.  In the notebook children keep homework, graded papers, and notes.  There is also a behavior calendar with stickers for each month.  Beside the calendar is a list of classroom rules.  If a child breaks a rule in the classroom (after being warned) he/she has to sign the discipline book.  For signing the book, the child sits/runs at recess for 10 minutes.  After a second offense, the time increases to 15 minutes.  For a third offense, the sticker in the S.A.F.A.R.I. notebook for that day is pulled with a number of the rules broken written in the calendar box.  For severe offenses the sticker will be pulled automaticallly.

Classroom Rules:

1.  Pay attention.

2.  Get along with others.

3.  Talk only when it's my turn and use my inside voice.

4.  Do my work carefully, neatly, and on time.

5.  Keep my hands, feet, and other objects to myself.

6.  Respect and obey the teacher and other school adults.

7.  Use nice words.

8.  Behave in the restroom and halls.

9.  Tell the truth.

10.  Walk inside the building.
