Daily News

Last week we began to use the daily news in our classroom.  It was written on my white board.  Beginning Monday, September 21, the children will also receive a paper copy of the daily news to bring home to share with their family.  Through the daily news the children will learn to track left to right in print.  They will also begin to recognize words that they see every day in print.  By the end of the year the children will be able to read the entire daily news independently.  Please encourage your child to look at it daily with you.  Have your child point out things that they recognize in print.

Learning to Care

Every Wednesday Miss Angela Ramataur will be visiting our classroom. This program teaches the children empathy and caring for others.  The children learn about the needs of babies and small children.  They also will learn about cooperation needed by family members.  The classes begin on October 7 and continue until May.

Book Buddies

Every Day 6 at 2:45 we will be visiting with Mrs. Perich's first grade class.  They will read stories to my children.  As the year progresses my children will read stories to her children.  We also play games and do other activities during this time.  It is a great way for the children to connect with an older child in our school.

Be sure to go on the nlsd.org website to view the school lunch menu.  It is no longer sent home with the children.
