Meet Mrs. Cohen

Hello everyone! I want to tell you a little bit about me and my family. I was born in Albany and attended public and private schools through high school graduation. I was a big athlete in high school. I played 4 sports every year and I was captain of my soccer team senior year. My undergradute degree is from Springfield College and I completed my master's degree at The College of St. Rose. I started my teaching career 12 years ago! Phew...time flies. This will be my 5th year at Green Meadow! Boy, do I just love it here! Green Meadow ROCKS!

I live in East Greenbush with my husband, Jeff, and our 3 children, Nicholas, Nia and Liz. Nicholas is a 7th grader at Goff. Nia is a 4nd grader here at Green Meadow. Liz is a 1st grader here too!

We love to play outside, ride bikes, swim, sleigh ride, watch movies, run, and do crafts together. I love all sports!  We also like to travel when we can. We love the beach. We go to the ocean every year as our family vacation in July. We also travel to sunny Las Vegas to visit grandparents. The kids love Vegas. No poker games for them yet!

As far as myself...I keep so busy with the kid's schedules and my work at Green Meadow. But whenever I do find time to unwind, I love to curl up in bed and read a book or watch a movie. I have read a lot this summer...more than I have in many summers. It's been great fun for me. One of my favorite things to do is to shop! I love buying clothes for myself. My favorite stores are H&M and Expresss. When the going gets tough in my life, I shop! I like to go for walks with my neighbors. I also love to go out to dinner with friends. Regular excercise is also something I really work hard at. I workout at 5:00, that's a.m. people!  I also lift weights three times a week.   I need my strength in order to keep my third graders in line!

Other hobbies that I miss dearly since I have been a mom are skiing, ice skating, basketball, volleyball, softball and water skiing. I played a lot of volleyball in high school, a little in college and I even played on an intramural team until I was 4 months pregnant with Nick. I just couldn't bounce on my tummy anymore! I love it! I have not had enough time for these sports in the past 10 years but I am always looking for an opportunity to try one again!  I also like to go to an occasional professional sporting event...the Mets, Yankees or the Giants games. My husband and son are Mets freaks (to say the least) and my brother has season tickets to the NY Giants. These games are always fun when I go!

I am so anxious to get to know all of my students this year!! Can't wait for the "Fantastic Flying Journey" of the 2009-20010 school year!!
