Greetings, I hope everyone had a great winter break. It is hard to believe that we are almost halfway through the school year. I thought I would drop you a few lines to let you in on some of the things we have been doing in the art room. One of the skills we are learning is how to cut with scissors. Over the years I have found this to be on of the most difficult skills to master at this age. So I would encourage you to practice this with your child as often as you can at home. We have also been learning how to use watercolors and how to take care of our brushes and we are just beginning to learn about color mixing. We learned about the artist Jasper Johns and his love of symbols in the art making process and made some Jasper Johns inspired art work of my goals for your child this year is for them to become comfortable with the art making process and focus on that process rather than the finished product. I believe this creates a love for art in a non threatening environment. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to drop me a line. Thank you Dawn Bergstrom
