Desktop Publishing
Desktop Publishing teaches students the fundamentals of creating sharp, professional-looking documents with step-by-step illustrated instructions. After the basics are introduced, students use Microsoft Publisher to create pages with all kinds of design elements, such as formatted text, photographs, lines, and pictures. Students will create customized page layouts and templates; learn how to enhance a project with the right fonts and graphics; and create both print publications (brochures, newsletters, memos, postcards, and envelopes) and Web publications (pages that you publish on the Internet). To expose students to workplace settings, each exercise begins with "On the Job" with a brief description of how you would use the features of that exercise. Students will also apply newly learned skills to create their own publications using their own information. During the year, students will also learn about marketing techniques utilizing Give to Get Marketing.
