Mrs. Murphy's Teaching Philosophy

My philosophy of education is based on the fact that a positive environment created by well-educated energetic teachers will produce successful learning. My classroom offers a place for students to have the opportunity to develop their skills in an atmosphere that offers a unique combination of academic and creative studies. I believe that each student is an individual, with his/her own creative potential, perception, and particular path of development. In order for children to learn they must be excited and interested in the subject matter.  This is where the teacher has to be skilled, he or she must have the ability to create an environment that sparks the interest in the children.  Even if that ability means they must dress up in a 1600’s style costume, just to get the children excited to learn about that time period, this is the skill that they need.  This teacher must also be able to recognize the differences in learning capabilities. (We all know that every child has the ability to learn, but each child may learn differently)  In this case the teacher must be flexible and creative, adjusting every lesson for each different learning style, so that every student has the opportunity to learn equally. I also think it is important to teach your students that the rules sometimes just have to wait. Because life, in all it's brillance, happens quickly. And what really matters is being there to catch it. This is a quick summary of my education philosophy, but I truly believe and strive to be every word of it.
