What Your 3 Year Olds Are

 Learning About...

Week 1 & 2 ~ We are working on our fine motor skills. We have been doing tracing to gain control. We are working on how to hold the crayons the correct way.

Week 3 ~ We learned all about the letter "A"

Week 4 ~ We are learning about the letter "B"

Week 5 ~ We are learning about the letter "C". We also got to attend Art class and Computer class for the first time this week!

October has been a bit crazy with all the changes due to the flood. We are now hold class in the playroom. We have rearranged it so that we still have our big toys in the room but we also have our tables and chairs. There is still a lot of room for large motor activity.  The art and music teachers come to our room on their days. We go outside for gym when it is nice out. We are working on letters "D", "E", and "F".

November: we start lessons using scissors.

We have been working on recognizing the letters we have already learn by finding them in books and on charts. We have also been talking about how to spell a few simple words such as "Boo", "Go", and this week for H we talked about spelling"Hi".

We moved back to our original class room! The new carpet looks great!!

December: Christmas!

We are getting great at cutting lines and circles. To help your child build their fine muscles, let them play with playdough at home. We started learning patterns with red and green beads.

We are learning a lot about the Holy Family.

January: It is going to take us a week to get back into routine but once we are we will right back on track. We will continue with a letter a week starting with "N" perfect for New Year. We now have a class pets, two Beta Fish. We have a chart in the room with everyone's name on it and every day I move it in order to show who the line leaders are and who are going to feed the fishes. Every Friday the students watch and help me clean the tank.

February: We are doing very well writing our letters, recognizing our letter and we are really starting to understand the sounds each letter makes! We are doing a lot more hand eye coordinating and visual development by looking at a picture and then trying to draw it. Hand eye coordination. You will see more homework come home. Most home work papers are for working on the letters sounds and repetitive writing skills.

March: We finished the alphabet! We started to learn about Spring and we talked a lot about Easter. We learned about plants and what they need to grow.

April: We are learning about colors. We will be practicing coloring pictures the correct colors. We will also be learning about blending colors and sorting colors.
