Our Weekly Specials Schedule: Tuesday ~ We attend Library and Art class. Wednesday ~ We attend music class. Thursday ~ We attend computer class. Friday ~ We attend gym class. About the Program Being 3 years old means that these children are ready to learn and explore. Early childhood education is a critical step towards academic and social progression. In this program children will learn how to interact with one another in a respectful manor as well as gain a firm academic foundation. Children will learn about letters, numbers, colors, shapes, music, animals, and so much more. Children will be guided through activities while also being allowed time to discover their abilities on their own. Children will work on projects in small groups as well as individually. This program is designed to help children build a strong social, emotional, religious and academic foundation. Our daily routine that includes a circle time where we look at our calendar, talk about the seasons, weather, months and days of the week. We read a couple stories, discuss a new letter each week, and sing fun songs. We also have a few projects we do during the day that may include painting, gluing, coloring, drawing, printing, and cutting. In the morning about 9am we have snack time and then in the afternoon a quiet time/nap time around 11:30am. Every day we say the Our Father, Pledge of Allegiance, and a prayer before snack. Throughout the week we follow a religious curriculum called "Seeds" and twice a month we have a "Clifford Reader" the children do then take home. Many times during the week we go to the gym or outside for large motor activities. We also have a play room that is a separate from the class room where the children have a large amount of space to play and interact with one another. About Myself My name is Miss Constantine and I am the Early Childhood Education teacher at St. Mary's Institute. Mrs. Hughes will be our full time aide. I myself am a St. Mary's Institute graduate. I attended here from pre-k to 8th grade. Some of the teachers at the school today were some of my very first teachers. This is a great example of the closeness and loyalty that SMI has to offer. I am very excited to be teaching in the environment that I grew up in, and I only hope to pass on the great experience I had and am continuing to have at SMI onto my students. I am also the modified soccer coach for SMI as well as part of the year book staff.
