My Music program follows this type of format:

Kindergarten: lots of moving(feeling the beat), rhythm instruments, and listening skills

               Kdg has also been working on the keyboard...high, middle, low, up and down

                                                the Music Alphabet ABCDEFG, and naming the keys

Grade 1: I was able to purchase Handbells to use as they learn to read music, listening skills, and movement... First grade has also started Music Alphabet, Keyboard, Introduction to Staff

                          and keyboard drills.

Grade 2: They will learn teamwork when learning the Autoharp, listening skills, notation.

            Second Grade has been working on Music Alphabet, keyboard drills, Staff, Types of notes

                                  Time Signature, and Stem Rule

Grade 3: They will begin to use their recorders in January, notation, listening skills.

             Third Grade has been working on Music Alphabet, types of notes, staff, rests,

                                   drawing treble clef, identify the lines/spaces of treble clef

                                   They will begin the bass clef next

Grade 4: Continues the Recorder, listening skills, notaion, key signatures.

            Fourth Grade has been working on staff, drawing treble/bass clef signs,

                                   treble clef/bass clef lines and spaces

Grade 5: Finish the Recorder by January, Start some keyboarding, key signatures, time signatures, notation, styles of music

             Fifth Grade has been reviewing from last year, working on stem rules, note/rest review,

                                      and dotted notes.

Grade 6: Keyboard, and Boomwhackers, notation, rhythm, listening, etc...

            Sixth Grade has been reviewing stem rules, notes and rests, dotted notes

Grade 7: Boomwhackers, a little guitar skills, notation, styles of music, etc...

           Seventh Grade has been doing alot of reviewing from their Sixth Grade year. They are

                     studying the different groups of instruments.

Grade 8: BellePlates, styles of music, research, etc...

           Eighth Grade has been paying close attention to pitch, clefs, musical sounds of silence.

We tend to stay busy in class.
