Genre Study of the Month

The links listed on this page will be used to assist students on independent reading units. I use independent reading assignments to reinforce studies in our Balanced Literacy Unit. Our units often focus on specific genre studies throughout the school year. Reading is done at home and then through small group and class discussions students share their impressions of these novels. We also use this time to discuss writing techniques used by the author to help us become better writers. Often the culminating project "Book Celebration" is a creative way for students to present their personal interaction with these novels.
