Slide Top Box with a silk screened lid. Artist: Christina

Here are examples of mini unit classes offered in the past. Mini units are one week long and satisfy elective credit unless otherwise specified.

Forensic Science

Let’s do some dissecting! We will also perform dissections of various creatures and answer the questions: “How is a bird similar to a frog?” or “How are you similar to a turtle?” While this is an elective class it will also classify as a lab science class.

Shop Time

This is an introductory woodworking class and we will be making slide top boxes.

This Old Garden

It’s time to enjoy the spring again! We will spend most of our time outdoors doing some community service for the school. If you are taking the WASL test in the morning, sign up for this one for sure to burn off some steam and earn community service hours.

Patterns of Design (aka: the Art of Chaos)

How do fallen leaves on the ground represent an ordered pattern? This class will explore designs found in nature in fractals. We will make designs from natural materials, fractal paper cuts and use the microscope to learn about these patterns.
