S.T.A.R.S. Program
|
|
The S.T.A.R.S. (Success Through Assisted Reading Support) Program is an early academic intervention program designed to provide reading/language art (E/LA) instruction in a small group setting. Presently the program is provided for students in second and third grade. The S.T.A.R.S. program approach to learning is to make the instruction and the room "print" enriched. Instruction focuses on multi-sensory and differentiated learning. A major component of the program is phonemic awareness and phonics. In addition to regular instruction, children work in a variety of independent learning centers. Cross-curriculum activities in science, social studies and math are part of the reading instruction.
