Learning Center Goals

Students - To provide educational services to students who have been diagnosed as having learning disabilities.
- To meet the needs of remedial students.
- To provide enrichment programs.
- To work on short-term needs through reinforcement of particular readiness, language, reading and math skills.
- To work on long term skills: e.g. reading comprehension skills, math skills, study and listening skills.
- To provide a resource person for students to assist them in locating information, developing work/study habits, guidance, etc.
- To provide Academic Intervention Services (AIS) to students who meet the criteria for services.
- To provide the Wilson Program and Great Leaps Program to students who meet the criteria for these programs.
Teachers - To provide a circulatory library of a variety of resource materials.
- To provide teachers with "hands on" materials for classroom use.
- To provide a resource person to assist teachers in planning and developing lessons and units, learning activities, locating materials, etc.
- To coordinate the integration of the classroom curriculum into the specials' curriculum.
- To provide a resource person to assist teachers in meeting the learning needs of individual students.
Parents - To provide a resource person to assist parents in working with their child at home.
- To provide parents with an educational support system.
