Learning Center Learning Center Goals

Students

  1. To provide educational services to students who have been diagnosed as having learning disabilities.
  2. To meet the needs of remedial students.
  3. To provide enrichment programs.
  4. To work on short-term needs through reinforcement of particular readiness, language, reading and math skills.
  5. To work on long term skills: e.g. reading comprehension skills, math skills, study and listening skills.
  6. To provide a resource person for students to assist them in locating information, developing work/study habits, guidance, etc.
  7. To provide Academic Intervention Services (AIS) to students who meet the criteria for services.
  8. To provide the Wilson Program  and Great Leaps Program to students who meet the criteria for these programs.

Teachers

  1. To provide a circulatory library of a variety of resource materials.
  2. To provide teachers with "hands on" materials for classroom use.
  3. To provide a resource person to assist teachers in planning and developing lessons and units, learning activities, locating materials, etc.
  4. To coordinate the integration of the classroom curriculum into the specials' curriculum.
  5. To provide a resource person to assist teachers in meeting the learning needs of individual students.

Parents

  1. To provide a resource person to assist parents in working with their child at home.
  2. To provide parents with an educational support system.
