- Students are required to do homework each night (Math, Spelling and Reading).
- Math will entail skills, concepts or review. Usually on a worksheet or in their Math Journals.
- Spelling homework is as follows; Monday ABC order, Tuesday and Wednesday a choice activity and Thursday, Word Work words with includes parental involvement in studying for their test the following day on Friday.
- Independent Reading, which needs to be recording a their reading slips each day.
- Students are required to read 100 minutes each week. Reading slips, for the week, are collected on Friday or Monday morning, this way it allows the child the weekend to catch up on their required reading.
- Students are only required to do 45 minutes of homework every night. If your child is doing more than the time allotted for homework, drop or lessen the number of minutes they read Monday - Thursday.
HOMEWORK SLIPS
If your child does not bring in the required work, they will receive a Missing Homework Slip that you will be required to initial. This is so you know that your child was unprepared for class. It must signed and have the late work attached to it for credit.
Each child receives 1 "freebie" per trimester, then they start getting minors. Three minors equals one major. After the 2nd major, after school detention will be coordinated between school and home. This disqualifies the child for the end of the trimester reward.
1st offense: freebie
2nd offense: 1st minor
consequence: loss of recess
3rd offense: 2nd minor
consequence: loss of recess and out of team
4th offense: 3rd minor equals major
consequence: out of team and loss of both recesses one is spent with Mrs. Sullivan and the other is spent with me.
5th offense: 2nd major
consequence: out of team and loss of both recesses one is spent with Mrs. Sullivan and the other is spent with me.
6th offense: 3rd major
consequence: after school detention
This is a district initiative and all necessary paperwork needs to be returned with your child the following day.
