Regents US History-Expectations |

Any student in US History Regents level (and that is all Juniors in my Regents classes) will need the following supplies. This information was previously sent on two different occasions via school email. You will need the following: Loose leaf paper, a notebook of your choice, and a pen. After Easter you will need a review book, also purchased through the bookstore, but we'll worry about that later. Assignments may be hand written or typed, but may not be handed in on torn out of a notebook paper.I will not accept it. Assignments are due when assigned. Late assignments, if even taken, will be penalized. If you are absent from class when an assignment is given, it is your responsibility to get the work from me OR someone in your class. Don't delay! High school is about independence, responsibility and accepting the consequences of your actions. Tests and quizzes are available for a limited time in the Learning Lab and it is your responsibility to make them up. What was the famous conversation I had with a parent one year? "But Miss Luhr, I can't believe this grade. My daughter says she has passed all the assignments she had handed in." "That is true, Mrs. ______, she has passed all those assignments. It is the 10 assignments she is missing and didn't hand in that is causing her to fail my class." If you are absent from class and an assignment is given, it is your responsibility to get the assignment and hand it in for the next class. The excuse "I was absent" doesn't work in this technologically advanced society. There are no exemptions in this class EVER. This is a required course for every student in New York State and that means you must pass both the class and the Regents exam to graduate. There is NEVER extra credit given. Grades are based on homework, quizzes, tests, writing assignments and any projects which are given. Attendance is taken during every class and I do expect you to be in compliance with New York State attendance requirements. I can give you a really good idea for studying: I use old Regents questions on tests and quizzes. Go to the following sites: www.regentsprep.org or do a search of New York State Regents Examinations and go to the New York State Library which has the exams. You can print them up and look up old questions. You may try this: www.nysl.nysed.gov/regentsexams.htm
