Sometimes Snap Shots bring you the information you need, without your having to leave the site, while other times it lets you "look ahead," before deciding if you want to follow a link or not.
Should you decide this is not for you, just click the Options icon in the upper right corner of the Snap Shot and opt-out.
Staff Development -- Check out "Classroom News" First (Just to revisit some vocabulary regarding Web 2.0 technologies) This is located on the left side of the page.
Then Click on the "My Links" tab also at the left side of this page. That page is where you'll find links to all sorts of new and exciting tools.
As with the implementation of any new lesson ideas or technologies, it's important that you as the teacher really explore, learn and plan for the proper student use of the technology. I don't recommend that you just tell students to go to these sites. That is not the way in which they should be used. A well-thought out lesson plan and implementation strategy is key, both for student safety on the Internet and so that you can use the technology to engage students in collaborative, cooperative activities that will assist in increased student engagement and higher student achievement. You'll have to decide who will have access to student work and comments. You'll be able to invite specific individuals to the sites and "lock out" others. These tools should be one of the tools in the "teacher toolbox" so as to offer differentiated instruction in all classes to all students and to assist you in delivering lessons that will teach "21st Century Skills" in your classroom.
Go to "My Links" to get to the WMMS Patron Card Catalog!!! (The Patron Card Catalog is on the WAWM Intranet and is only available when "On-Campus" in the district.)
