Welcome to the Malta Ave. Elementary School Library!

Mrs. Colleen Leclair,

Library Media Specialist

Mrs. Debbe Bondi,

                                               Library Teaching Assistant

The goal of the Malta Avenue Elementary School Library is to teach students the many skills needed in this millennium’s information explosion.  Students will learn how to access and evaluate information as well as apply it to the necessary task.  Students will learn how to locate materials not only for educational needs, but also for personal and instructional needs.  Classes visit the library each week for book exchange, while library instruction (research projects, orientations, location skills and genre and author studies) will be scheduled as necessary throughout the school year with librarian/teacher collaboration.

The Malta Ave. Library has wonderful variety of materials, including books, magazines, book/tape sets (with Walkman loans available, if necessary),  Playaway MP3 players, DVDs and videotapes.  Our online catalog and wide array of databases is always accessible in the library.  Students and their families can also access our library’s online catalog, Destiny, from a home computer by the library link provided through the district website: www.bscsd.org.

"What a school thinks about its library is a measure of what it thinks about education."
