A Little About Me

            A Little Bit About Me

I was born and raised in Herculaneum where I graduated from High School in 1975.  I received my Associate of Arts degree from Jefferson College and then went to Southeast Missouri State University where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1979.    My first teaching job was at the Special School District in St. Louis.  I have also taught at Grandview School in Ware, Missouri, and have been at Hillsboro for the last twelve years.  I did take off several years to raise my family.
My desire to be a teacher came from my upbringing with my siblings.  I have an older brother Mark, and a younger brother and sister named Gary and Lisa.  My younger brother and sister were both born with Spinal Bifida which paralized them from the waist down.  At that time not many schools were equipped to deal with students in wheelchairs, so my brother was taught at home (home-bound instruction) through high school where he graduated.  My sister lived with my grandparents in St. Louis and graduated from the Special School District.  She also went on to get her Associate of Arts degree from Meramec.  They experienced a number of great teachers who really helped them.  I respected their teachers and thought that the job they did was important.
I have been married to my college sweetheart for twenty-six years.  We have three children; Natalie is twenty-four and a hair stylist in St. Louis. Alicia is twenty-two and a graduate of UMSL.  She was married in June, and is a marketing intern at a public relations firm.   Our youngest ,Jonathan, is fifteen and a sophomore at the high school.   All of our children went or are going to Hillsboro.   The other two important members of the Krah household are our two eighty-five pound laborador retrievers, Bailey and Koda.  They are brother and sister, and are really still just puppies at 3 years of age.  If you know anything about labs they stay puppies for about the first 6-7 years.  They are the sweetest dogs in the world.
In my spare time I enjoy scrapbooking, reading, and watching my son play sports.  He has been on a select baseball team for the last five years, and my husband and I have traveled all over watching him play.   We have spent these last five years carrying equipment and cheering for him.   We did the same things for our daughters when they played on select volleyball teams.
Our family really loves sports.  The St. Louis Cardinals are my favorite team.  My favorite St. Louis Cardinal player of all time is Willie McGee, #51.  My husband loves the Rams and his family is originally from Green Bay, Wisconsin, so naturally our back-up football team to cheer for is the Green Bay Packers.  If we have any free weekends in the summer we spend it at Montauk State Park trout fishing or at Lake of the Ozarks just boat riding.
My philosophy at school is simple.  We are at school working together to accomplish a goal of learning.  I am here to help you achieve that goal.  I will do my best to assist and encourage you when needed, but we always strive to become independent workers.   While you work towards that goal always remember to keep your sense of humor.  I think it is important to try to see the bright side of each situation and be ready to laugh.
I look forward to meeting and working with each of you!
