5th Grade Promotion Activities

Promotion is a very special time of year. There will be many activities, a couple of practices, and fun and unique privileges that will go hand in hand with this exciting schedule. Keep your behavior in check, and there will be no need to worry about infractions limiting what you are allowed to do.  Here's a preview...

Promotion Picture Day ...tba

Look pretty or handsome and be ready for taking a special photo wearing a graduation gown. Pictures will be available for purchase after your parents have a chance to see the proofs. No need to bring money ahead of time.

Growth & Development Lesson...tba

Boys and girls will be separated to learn about the function of the reproductive body systems. Parent permission form required. Much more info to come.

Visit to Temecula Middle School...tba

We will be walking to TMS--students of TMS as well as others--at ___________________. We will return to ARES and the classroom before lunch. Each year, it is such a treat as Principal Mr. Sousa, the middle school leadership committee, their band, and teachers alike all welcome us with a wonderful tour of the campus and a peak into the exciting middle school life that is in store for all incoming sixth graders! 

5th Grade Turtle Races...tba

It has been a long standing tradition at ARES to see who has the fastest and most decorated turtle! (Cardboard turtle, that is! :-)  Patterns to make yours will go home soon. The sky is the limit on how you can choose to give your turtle flare, speed and personality. However, no batteries or electricy are allowed! There will prizes for both the best looking, and the fastest flying turtle when he races across our classroom zipline! Be thinking about what yours will do! :-)

Fifth Grade vs. Teachers & Staff Kickball Game...tba

Students who are in good standing behaviorally will have the opportunity to show their athletic skills in our traditional ARES 5th grade vs. the staff kickball game. This is also voluntary, as some of you may prefer to simply cheer on your favorite player. The whole school turns out to watch the game, so start practicing kickball! :-)

Fifth Grade Field Day & Hot Dog Lunch...tba

Our field day will begin in the morning and have you rotate through a variety of fun outdoor activities with your class. Bring water, wear sunscreen. For lunch, you'll be treated to hot dogs and toppings!

Promotion Day...tba

Today is the day you will be able to celebrate with your parents moving on to the next state of your academic life! All family members and friends are invited and welcome to attend our morning, outdoor promotion ceremony. You will wear your wolf t-shirt "tucked in" if you are a boy, or knotted to the side, for girls, if you like. Wear dark bottoms or skirts. :-) More details to come...

Fifth Grade Awards Handed Out at the Promotion Ceremony

This is your time to shine! Students who have earned themselves a place on the Honor Roll for all six trimesters--4th and 5th grade--will receive a special Presidential Academic Award signed by our president of the United States! There are also 4 special Citizenship Awards to be handed out (2 chosen by me, and 2 chosen by your peers). Finally, last but not least, there will be one Educational Improvement Award to be handed out for the student who showed the most growth in their academics throughout fifth grade! :-) 

Pool & Picnic Party...Last Day of School!

Swimmers and non-swimmers alike will enjoy our day at the Paseo del Sol Recreation Center pool. You will bring your own sack lunch and enjoy socializing and celebrating with your friends! We leave as soon as school starts, and you will be back to ARES before the bell to go home....for the last time!
