Welcome to the John Paul II High School Health Services web site!

Hi! My name is Cheryl Hennig. I am truly blessed and excited to serve John Paul II High School students and staff. I graduated from the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. I have worked primarily with Pediatrics. My experience includes Pediatric ICU at Children’s Medical Center, Home Health Nursing, Pediatric Urology and ENT Clinics, and St Mark School Nurse. Before joining John Paul II High School, I worked at a Pediatricians office. I look forward to great year !

John Paul II High School Health Care Philosophy

Effective management of health care needs requires a partnership among the student, the parent(s), or guardian(s), the primary care provider, and the adults who work with the student at school.  The school nurse works closely with all disciplines to coordinate the resources of school, home, and community as they pertain to the total health of individual students.  

As the school nurse, I have the responsibility to provide emergency care, health maintenance, and health guidance for the students and staff.

The school’s responsibility for the administration of emergency care is primarily limited to first aid only.  First aid is defined as the immediate and temporary care given in order to prevent further injury until medical care may be secured.  Transportation, except for emergencies, is the responsibility of the parent or guardian.  It is imperative that the school have current emergency numbers.

It is my goal to provide the following services to support the JPII student:

*Assess individual student health and developmental status

*Promote and maintain the health and well being of all students

*Develop health plans for students with health conditions

*Coordinate prevention and control of communicable disease

*Develop a system of first aide and emergency care

*Participate in health education

*Recommend new and updated health policies
