About Mrs. Frihart About Mrs. Frihart

"A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in or the kind of car I drove~but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child." --Forest Witcraft

This quote hangs in an important place in my bedroom so I can see it everyday.  It is very important to me that my students feel successful in the classroom.  Not just in the area of academics but in their peer relationships and their own feeling of self worth.  My personal philosophy is you can be successful if you feel good about yourself and your importance to the world.  Every child can succeed given the right tools and the power to believe they can achieve their goals.

I am in my eighth year at Camp Creek and my 11th year in teaching.  My teaching career started with teaching preschool then I moved to Camp Creek as a parapro in the Autism Resource program.  In 2005, I became a certified teacher and taught fourth grade for one year.  I then moved to the special education department as the resource teacher for the students with Autism.  This will be my first year as a 2nd grade teacher after teaching 3rd grade for the last three years.  Prior to teaching I had two other careers, one in retail management and the other was in the insurance industry.

In 1993 my husband and I moved to Georgia for just a "few" years and fell in love with the area.  Needless to say we are still here 18 years later.  We have one son, Sam who will be a junior at Parkview.  Most of our free time revolves around Sam and his activities but I do sing in the chancel choir at our church as well as ring in one of our many handbell choirs.  When I have the time I also like to play tennis.  My other hobbies are cooking and reading.

I hope you have a restful and fun summer.  I look forward to getting to know you and your child.  Second grade is an exciting and big year in the life of a student as they  further develop their reading skills and begin to use reading to learn new knowledge.  I am thankful we will share this journey in your child's life together.
