We were not blessed with a competition gym or even a full-sized auxiliary gym at Weston (Ripon, California), but rather a "Saved by the Bell," mini-me gym that served as the school's cafeteria, auditorium, and gymnasium. It was a terrible place to teach basketball, but I had a blast working with some of the greatest kids on the planet. Guys like Scott Hughes, Zach McCormick, Joel Robles, Robby Espinoza, KC Palmer and the rest of the crew deserved so much more, but they didn't complain. We didn't have practice gear and used old nasty reversible mesh uniforms when we scrimmaged. We made due with what limited resources we had a Weston and have some great memories.
